100 Things
Wednesday, Jul. 23, 2003 - 9:04 PM

I've seen a lot of people that have these list of 100 things about them. So I am going to try and come up with 100 things about me that maybe you never knew.

1. On the first day of sixth grade, I went to the wrong classroom, but no one realized until awhile after because there was a Katlyn in that class too.

2. Some people pronounce my name Cat-Lyn, but it's really pronounced Kate-Lyn.

3. I spelled my name "Katie" until half way through 9th grade.

4. I came up with the spelling "Kaytee" when I was reading some fanfiction where the characters name was "Jaymee". I have a friend named Jamie and when we were little we'd always comment on how the only different letters in our names were the "K/J" and "t/m", so I figured I'd change those letters in "Jaymee" and came up with "Kaytee".

5. People can spell my name "Kaytee", "Katie", or "KT", but do NOT spell it "Katy".

6. I used to shun NASCAR because it was pavement racing and I would refuse to watch pavement racing.

7. I only began watching NASCAR fulltime half was through last season. I believe from the July Pocono race on.

8. I became a fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr. because it was the only name I knew when I got into the sport.

9. But I soon discovered Jimmie Johnson, because he was a rookie, and he won at Dover, my favorite track.

10. I became a hockey fan in 5th grade. Lost interest in 8th grade. Got back into it in 10th grade. And now you can't drag me away from the tv during a game.

11. I crack up everytime I hear the whistle then the "Rangers suck" chant in the Meadowlands. It happens at least 5 times a game, even when the Devils aren't even playing the Rangers.

12. I used to be a reading addict. Back in 5th and 6th grade, I read all the Little House on the Prarie books.

13. When the Harry Potter books first came out, I refused to read them and thought they were stupid and anyone that read them were stupid.

14. Then my friend made me go see the first movie, then read the books. So I am now a fan and spent the damn money for the 5th book.

15. I've never read the first Harry Potter book, and never will.

16. I actually sorta had a boyfriend for a week in 8th grade. He asked me out online. And that's really the only place we talked. We were both shy.

17. Then one night I decided to get drunk for some reason, called that guy an asshole. And he said it was over.

18. I cried my eyes out, over this guy that I was supposedly dating, but never went on a date with. I don't even think we talked on the phone.

19. In 7th grade, I had a major crush on this 8th grader. I stalked him so bad. And I kept this notebook with stuff relating to him.

20. I also have a note that he wrote, or someone wrote to him, that he dropped by the buses. I happened to notice so I picked up the note. I'm a curious person!

21. When I was young, I used to rock back and forth on my bed. It helped me get to sleep.

22. I still do it occansionally. I'll just be listening to music and start rocking back and forth to the beat.

23. During 8th grade, when all I wanted to do was hide and be away from everything, I used to listen to my walkman, rock back and forth, and think up these stories about how I met NSYNC or something.

24. That's how I began writing fanfiction. I put those stories down on paper.

25. My first fanfic I wrote in 8th grade, in a green notebook. I refused to let anyone read it. Until my friend made me let her read it, so she did. And she loved it and made me continue writing it, even though it was NSYNC and she hates NSYNC.

26. That was the longest fanfic I've ever written, and will ever write. The ending got really weird. I don't know how I thought up some of the stuff. Very odd.

27. Suddenly, I've been using the word "odd" a lot. I don't know why, but everything is just "odd".

28. My liking for wolves started in 8th grade when I read the book "Julie of the Wolves" for a book report.

29. Since then my goal in life is to someday work with them.

30. Thank god for that book because now I actually have a career path and a major for college.

31. I got into photography in 9th grade. I watched that show "Caitlin's Way" and she always took pictures, and I thought she was cool, so I wanted to be like her and carry a camera around all the time and take pictures.

32. The professional camera I use now was a gift from my Grandpa to my parents when my older brother was born.

33. My Grandpa died the day before my first birthday. I never got to know him.

34. My other Grandpa died on Friday, September 1, 1995 at 5:30 in the morning. How I still remember that, I don't know.

35. I don't remember my grandpa much. Which really upsets me.

36. When I heard that my grandma was getting married again, I got really upset. It was only two years since my grandpa died.

37. Although Charlie was a nice man, I could never like him because he took the place of my grandpa.

38. I did cry at his funeral though. But at the same time, I was kind of happy he was gone. I know, that's mean, but I just never really could like him.

39. I don't remember going to Flemginton Speedway. That upsets me. I know it was a great track that has a lot of history. But I guess that because I was so little when I went.

40. I started going to the races full time two seasons ago.

41. Next season, I will have a car, and I will drive to the races every week. I think I'll go to Bridgeport. That's a two hour drive though.

42. I used to have this fear of getting up and leaving my seat during the race. I would fear someone would take it while I was gone. So I never ate anything during a race. Nor went to the bathroom.

43. That ended though. I now freely walk about, but really hate to because I don't want to miss any racing.

44. I stole a stuffed animal from my 7th social studies teacher. It was catbert. I took it and was going to only keep it for the weekend, but I ended up never giving it back.

45. The first website I created was in 7th grade. It was kickass! But then Homestead began charging people for websites, so I had to move to geocities, which I don't like as much.

46. I really don't care about my website anymore. I should work on it, but don't feel like it. This diary is cooler.

45. When I was little, like elementary school, I used to steal candy from the grocery store. My mom would only let us get one candy bar, and I wanted more, so I would go to an empty register, pick the one I wanted, and then stick another in my pocket.

46. I was never caught. But I don't do that anymore. I stopped when I got paranoid that there were cameras and they were watching me.

47. I have a love for Mickey Mouse. I got my first Mickey Mouse stuffed animal when I was 7 months old. My mom got it from Disney World.

48. I now have seven Mickey Mouse stuffed animals, but the original is still the best.

49. I also have five shirts with Mickey Mouse on them.

50. At the end of every school year, we have to write a reflection in English. The teacher doesn't read them, just looks to make sure we do them. So I wrote a sentence in the middle of last years that said something like "I don't know what else to write. This is really stupid. I'm just writing what I wrote in the mid-year reflection. This is bullshit."

51. When I got my ears pierced in 3rd grade, I didn't move at all, so the person gave my these plastic braclets because I was so good. I thought I was cool.

52. I like the band Matthew Good Band. I began listening to them because Junior liked them. The man has good taste in music!

53. I used to play hookey from school in 9th grade because I feared band and the band teachers so much. That was my last year of band.

54. I don't like foreign things. I don't like learning about anything foreign. I only care about the United States.

55. That is why I like the Civil War so much. It was an American war, and only an American war.

56. I am good at English, but yet I have the smallest vocabulary ever. Big words go right over my head. Even words that aren't big, I don't know what they are.

57. I was never taught how to sound out words, so I hate reading outloud because there are so many words I cannot pronounce.

58. I have a major fear of speaking in front of people. It makes me very nervous. But I'm getting better. I still don't like it though.

59. When we read "Their Eyes Are Watching God" in English, I was about the only person in the class that could understand it. I liked it too. Good book.

60. I used to love Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I remember when it first started. I saw a commercial for it and was like "Oh my god! They're making a series for that!" I loved the movie, so of course I had to watch the show. I stopped watching after the third season though.

61. I'm very paranoid. I have this fear a lot of times that people are always talking about me. Or if I'm walking somewhere, I'm afriad something's going to pop out and hurt me.

62. I have over 1,000 hockey cards. Some are actually worth good money too.

63. I love the south. I could never live there, but I love going there. It's just beautiful. And I love the plantations.

64. There's not a more sexier guy than a guy with a southern accent.

65. Instead of pronouncing it Tren-Ton, I say Trenen.

66. I also pronounce pillow, "pallow".

67. No, I don't say Joisey. No one from New Jersey really says that. Only those stupid out-of-staters do.

68. I used to collect beanie babies. At first I collected the dogs and a few other cool ones. Then I got into collecting the bears, which each had their own plastic case. I still have them. Wonder how much you can get for them on ebay...

69. When I was younger, I always wanted glasses. I think because my brother had them. So I used to put my brother's glasses on because I thought if you actually wore glasses when you didn't need them, you would end up needing them.

70. Then when I got glasses, I wouldn't wear them. I thought I looked dorky.

71. I wear them now though. I really don't need them. I can see and read perfectly fine without them. But I'll get a big headache after reading for awhile without them.

72. When I went to get my permit, I tried taking the eye exam without my glasses so I wouldn't have to always wear them when I drive. But I swear, the little thing you had to look into to read the letters was broken, or I couldn't look in right. So they made me wear my glasses, but I still couldn't see the letters right. Finally I was able to, but now I need my glasses to drive because that's what it says on my permit.

73. My instructer when I took my six hours was this black guy with dredlocks named Jason. He was hilarious. I remember when we were driving through this town and there was some girl on the corner and he's like "damn, that's some fine booty". I was like "excuse me, I'm driving here. I don't need to be hearing these things." He said this just after he got off the phone with his girlfriend too.

74. My favorite pair of pants I've had since...10th grade. They now have a growing hole in the right knee because my friend ran into me while I was riding my bike and I fell off and rip them on the pavement. They also have yellow paint on them because another friend and I got into a paint fight. There are two paint marks right on my ass too. They also have a hole forming on the back pocket because I always keep my chapstick in that pocket, and when I sit down, it rubs. I still wear them all the time and will continue to until they have completely fallen apart.

75. I am a big gossiper. I talk about people behind their backs. And I'll tell people stuff about someone, so I can get other info about people.

76. Ever heard the phrase "Curiousity killed that cat"? It's a good thing I'm not a cat, because I would be dead a LONG time ago.

77. I don't like dogs. I have a big fear of them. I'm afraid they're just going to attack me.

78. When I was four, my brother and I were strapped into the back of a station wagon and this big dog jumped in on top of us. We screamed our heads off. I believe that tramatized me for life, and is the reason I fear dogs.

79. Although, I do like dogs I know. Like friend or family dogs. Then they are fun. But they still annoy me a lot. And smell bad. Ick.

80. If you haven't realized it already, I'm a cat person.

81. I have a friend that I used to live next to when we were very little. We weren't friend though because we were both too shy. But now she's one of my closest friends.

82. I don't talk to anyone now that I was friends with in elementary school. No wait, I take that back. I talk to Emily, and occasionally Katie. And Kim if she needs something. But I'm not that close to any of them anymore.

83. In 10th grade, my friend and I wore NB shirts on spirit day and to our pep rally. NB is our rivals. We got some weird looks. And some guy asked us if we were trying to get beat up. But we never did.

84. Jes, Alisha, and I made a movie with a cardboard cut out of what was supposed to be the video production teacher. We edited it and put cool music to the background. But then we left it for some more experienced people to fix a little bit for us, and they completely messed it up. It was still cool though. Made it on the town channel.

85. October is the coolest month. Dale Earnhardt Jr's birthday is the 10th. Then exactly a week later, is my birthday on the 17th. Then exactly a week later is Brian Vicker's birthday on the 24th. Then exactly a week later is Halloween.

86. Chris from NSYNC and Eminem have the same birthday as me, just different years, of course.

87. I'm actually a really shy person. But if I feel comfortable around you, then I can be very talkative and try to be the center of attention.

88. But talking to guys. That's a task I haven't mastered very well. Unless it's a guy that I would never be interested in.

89. I get embarrassed really easily, and I'll turn bright red. It's not very fun.

90. I became addicted to country music less than six months ago. And I'm glad I did to. Great music.

91. I could never get a hold of spanish. It was so hard to me. I guess since I can't look at a word and try to pronounce it, I just never got it.

92. I would like to try to learn German though.

93. I'm German and proud of it! I'm what would be considered the "Arian race". Blonde hair, blue eyed German. Good to know that I would have survived the Holocaust!

94. I was always taught to work for the things I wanted. My parents never gave me everything I wanted. They made me work. And I thank them for that. I'm not a spoiled brat who thinks the world revolves around them.

95. People who always need to have their hair done, make-up on, and nice clothes crack me up.

96. It's even funnier when you see someone like that at a dirt track race.

97. I used to care so much about how I looked all the time. Now I couldn't care less. At least I don't look like I was pulled off the street.

98. My self confidence is so low. I think that Brad Paisley song could describe me. "two feet of top soil, a little bit of bedrock, limestone in between. A fossilized dinosaur, a little patch of crude oil, 1,000 feet of granite underneath. And then there's me."

99. I don't like asking people for things. If I can't get it, or know it, myself. Then I say heck with it, and move on. That's also because of my shyness.

100. As seen by this, I truly have no life. I just sit here all day, and that really annoys me. But there's really nothing I can do about it, because there's no where to go. And the things I want to do, my friends don't like. So I am stuck here all day thinking up lists of facts about me!
